Hearts Building Homes

My mother is a teacher, so I have always found time to help in her classroom. It helps that I love to work with the children and see that "light bulb" go off when they FINALLY get a concept. There are so many ways that you can volunteer in your local schools. Whether you are helping kindergarteners with their reading or tutoring a highschooler in math, there are so many different ways you can give back and help in a school near you.
Why should you volunteer in a school?
Because it can help to relieve stress, and the children are simply amazing. Because working with children teaches you to be patient, and you are never lacking in entertainment, especially when working with younger children. Because you get the joy of making someone happy, and it makes you feel needed and appreciated. Because all children can sympathize with you about homework, and understand when you are having a bad day. But most of all, because working with children and teens teaches you to enjoy the little things in life, and you get to make an impact in a child's life.
